To figure out the appropximate property tax for a particular piece of real esate, use the following formula: (Property Tax Value x Tax Rate)/100
For the tax rate, the chart below has tax rates for some of the areas in the triangle. If the property is inside the city limits, you will pay county and city taxes. If the property is not inside the city limits, you will only pay county taxes. The property value is not always the same as the sales price of a home.
Property values are usually listed in the MLS information on a home. They can also be found on the county website. From my Home page, select 'Local Towns and Neighborhing Counties' to access county information on a home.
